
Command Sergeant Major (Retired) Warren D. Soeldner began his military
career in 1989 as a Single Channel Radio Operator, completing training at Fort Jackson
and Fort Gordon, where he graduated as the Distinguished Honor Graduate. His first
assignment was in Germany as a Nuclear Communications Specialist with the 74th
Field Artillery Detachment (Pershing). Following the INF Treaty, he deployed to Saudi
Arabia for Operation Desert Shield/Storm and later served with the 101st Ordnance
Brigade and 529th Ordnance Company.
After passing Special Forces Selection, he trained at Fort Bragg and graduated
the Special Forces Qualification Course in 1994. He joined the 1st Battalion, 10th
Special Forces Group (Airborne) in Germany, serving in multiple communications roles
and deploying to Turkey, Northern Iraq, Bosnia, Kosovo, and Africa. In 2000, he
transferred to the 2nd Battalion, 10th SFG(A) at Fort Carson, Colorado, where he held
leadership roles including Detachment Operations Sergeant and later stood up the
Group Advanced Special Operations Training Detachment.
Graduating from the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy in 2009, he returned
to Fort Carson as Company Sergeant Major and Operations Sergeant Major. His
deployments included Operation Enduring Freedom, multiple rotations of Operation
Iraqi Freedom, Operation New Dawn, and missions across Eastern Europe, the Middle
East, and Africa.
In 2012, he was reassigned to Special Operations Command Europe (SOCEUR)
in Stuttgart, Germany, where he established the European Engagement Group, later
known as the Joint Operations Group EUCOM. In 2016, he became the Command
Sergeant Major of 3rd Battalion, 1st SFG(A) at Fort Lewis, Washington, supporting
exercises in Asia and serving in Baghdad during Operation Inherent Resolve.
In 2017, CSM Soeldner was appointed Commandant of the Joint Special
Operations University Enlisted Academy at USSOCOM, MacDill AFB, Florida. He
oversaw Joint SOF Professional Military Education and advised senior enlisted leaders
across services. He retired in 2019, receiving the Defense Superior Service Medal.
Post-retirement, Mr. Soeldner worked as a Program Manager at Lukos LLC
before returning to SOCEUR in 2020 as the Regional Desk Officer for the Balkans and
Eastern Mediterranean. He coordinated SOF training in Albania, North Macedonia,
Kosovo, Greece, and Cyprus, and served as USSOCOM’s liaison to Greece and
Cyprus, enhancing strategic access and partnerships.
In 2024, he resigned from civil service and relocated permanently to Greece,
where he now serves as the Global SOF Foundation Military Liaison to the Hellenic
Special Warfare Command.
CSM(R) Soeldner holds a B.S. in Military Leadership and an M.S. in Strategic
Leadership. His extensive military education includes elite courses in intelligence,
reconnaissance, targeting, and special operations planning. His decorations include the
Defense Superior Service Medal, Bronze Star for Valor, multiple campaign medals, and
prestigious unit awards. He is the 21st recipient of the St. Philip Neri Award in Bronze.
