
COLONEL (RET.) SAULIUS GUZEVIČIUS Saulius Guzevičius enlisted in the Lithuanian Volunteer Forces just after Lithuania regained independence, and from 1990 was a volunteer. During this period he completed several special courses given by US and Canadian instructors on the personal and public security and close protection. |
From 1991 to 1994, Saulius Guzevičius served as Parliamentary Security (CT squad) Deputy Commander.
In 1995, he founded the military Counter Terrorism Unit. When it was stood up in 1997, Saulius Guzevičius was appointed as the Commander of the Tier 1 Special Forces Unit.
In 2001, after the 9/11 attacks in the US, Saulius Guzevičius was directed to found the Special Operation Forces Command (SOF COM) in Lithuania. When it was stood up in 2004, he was appointed as the Commander of the Lithuanian Special Operation Forces. He served in this position until 2008.
In 2008 he was assigned as the Head of the Capabilities Development Branch in Capabilities Development & Planning Department of the General Staff, Lithuanian Ministry of Defense.
In 2009 Saulius Guzevičius initiated the Creation of Information Operations Centre, and he was assigned as Information Operations Centre Commander in the office of the Lithuanian Chief of Defense. Due to the increasing importance of information warfare, the Information Operations Centre soon evolved into the Strategic Communications Department.
On 21 April 2011 Saulius Guzevičius was appointed Director of the Strategic Communications Department in the Chief of Defense’s Office, Vilnius, Lithuania.
On 10 December 2015, Saulius Guzevičius was appointed to the NATO HQ International Staff Public Diplomacy Division Strategic Communications Team as its assessment analyses and military liaison officer.
On 2019, Saulius Guzevičius was appointed to the General Inspection at the LTU MOD, as Head of section.
On 14th April 2021, Colonel Saulius Guzevičius started to run the counter hybrid project in the LTU MOD.
On 06 August 2021, Colonel Saulius Guzevičius was appointed as a Chief of newly established Counter Hybrid Response Group in the LTU MOD.
Colonel Guzevičius has an interest in military history and marksmanship.
