The Military Engagement Manager reports to the Sr. Director of Programs and leads the Foundation’s relationships with military entities and the SOF enterprise worldwide. 

Location: Greater Tampa Bay Area, FL (most work is remote)

Salary Band: $75,000 – $100,000

Responsibilities:

  • Lead to maintain accurate contact information and regularly engage relevant Partner Nation representatives:
    • Ensure that GSOF maintains accurate contact information for Partner Nation SOF commanders and senior enlisted leaders
    • Conduct quarterly calls/meetings with critical Partner Nation SOF commands/representatives
    • Maintain accurate contact information for national industrial associations
    • Develop regional “Retired SOF Senior Leaders” group(s) as assigned
  • Lead to manage relationships with SOF tactical units, component commands, theater special operations commands, and joint commands, both U.S. and Partner Nations
    • Ensure accurate records of military and government leaders in the AMS
    • Regularly engage with the USSOCOM J3-International exchange and liaison officers
    • Oversee delivery of accurate invitations to GSOF events
  • Lead to supervise and task GSOF Partner Nation Military Consultants (1099s)
    • Build a utilization plan and propose an annual budget for the 1099s to the Sr. Director of Programs
    • Request input to the development of “Strategic Objectives” of our events
    • Task to assist in managing senior leaders during our events
    • Task to develop white papers about the key attendees and national issues surrounding the events and their SOF formations
    • Task them to connect GSOF with relevant national defense industry associations
    • Task them to recruit host nation defense companies to our events – including our US events
    • Ensure they understand and complete their assigned tasks
    • Ensure they are trained on GSOF policies and processes
  • Lead to identify, develop, and execute opportunities for GSOF to better serve the active duty SOF community
  • Leads coordination of military delegation participation in Demo Day, including invitations, schedule support, and onsite contact; also documents and shares internally any feedback or outcomes relevant to the military participation
  • Assist in increasing active duty military and government civilian personnel participation in GSOF events
  • Track, analyze, and report on military and government civilian attendance metrics to establish year-over-year Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Government Programs Manager and other Program Team members to ensure synchronized engagement efforts across military and civilian sectors
  • Represent GSOF at designated and approved events (all events and travel must be pre-approved)
  • Support planning for GSOF events
    • Liaise with potential host nations for future regional symposiums; support the Sr. Director of Events with Memoranda of Agreement negotiations
    • Strategize with US host military organization or Host Nation regarding military delegations and invitations for GSOF events
    • Inject into GSOF event agendas the desires and requirements from potential active duty attendees and SOF leaders
  • Support on-site execution of GSOF events
    • Engage with and support any Hosted Delegates / International Delegations to enhance their participation in the event
    • Support Host Nation participation in the event, from Senior Leaders to specific units
    • Attend key sessions and support development of take-aways and themes
    • Gain awareness of relevant regional SOF issues, policies, and projects
    • Supervise independent consultants
    • Attend military / government events and sessions, as permitted
  • Assist in encouraging Partner Nation SOF to complete Capabilities Catalogs and update as necessary
  • Keep abreast of issues, research, and trends in national security and technology that impact SOF issues, operations and strategies
  • Keep abreast of relevant regional SOF issues, policies, and projects

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 8 years SOF experience
  • Served on the staff of a SOF Component Command, theater special operations command, or a national SOF command
  • Possesses a current network with relationships with senior leaders in a SOF Component Command, theater special operations command, or a national SOF command
  • Self-motivated and proactive team leader with experience accomplishing prescribed goals with little or no supervision
  • Experience handling high-volume, production-based projects, including prioritizing, organizing, and tracking details, effectively managing deadlines and multiple priorities
  • Impeccable attention to ensure that all contractual commitments are met
  • Willingness to learn and look for ways to improve processes to achieve greater efficiency in pre-, during, and post-planning phases
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate concisely and effectively to express information in both written and oral contexts with internal customers, attendees, team members, and vendors
  • Strong writing skills and a proven track record of developing professional and effective communications
  • Ability to work remotely with a fast-paced, dynamic team
