Andy McCurry, Master Gunnery Sergeant, USMC (Ret.), is the Senior Director of Emerging Capabilities at the Global SOF Foundation. In this role, he bridges the gap between commercial innovation and national security needs by leading global capability scouting, Accelerator Alley, the SOF Solutions Stage, and all major GSOF demonstration programs—including aviation, munitions, maritime, ground, and emerging technologies. Serving as a strategic partner to the venture capital and private equity communities, Andy helps identify, evaluate, and scale high-potential, dual-use technologies for U.S. and international Special Operations Forces.
Prior to joining the Foundation, Andy completed a distinguished 30-year career in the United States Marine Corps, retiring as a Marine Raider. A seasoned operator, he served in multiple positions from the tactical to the operational and strategic levels. He was part of the foundational cadre that established Marine Forces Special Operations Command (MARSOC) in 2006 and spent the majority of his career within the special operations community. His service culminated as the Special Operations Forces Senior Enlisted Leader for MARSOC.
Throughout his career, Andy held critical joint and major command leadership positions. He served as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader for U.S. Special Operations Command Central (SOCCENT), where he oversaw theater special operations across the entire CENTCOM area of responsibility. Previously, he served as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader for the Combined Special Operations Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve, and as the Senior Enlisted Leader for the Marine Raider Group. Andy deployed extensively in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Inherent Resolve.
Andy holds a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership and a Master of Science in Strategic Leadership (with Honors) from the University of Charleston. He is a graduate of the Joint Special Operations University Senior Enlisted Academy, the Summit Course, the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy, and the National Defense University Keystone course.
