Herb Thompson is the best-selling and award-winning author of The Transition Mission and is currently a Management Consultant with Accenture. He retired in March 2019 after 20 years in the Army. Herb culminated his service as a Special Forces (Green Beret), Team Sergeant, for 3.5 years in the 5th Special Forces Group. Before earning his Green Beret, he won the 2008 U.S. Army Drill Sergeant of the Year award. He is the only person in the Army’s history to have achieved this award and the Green Beret.
Herb earned an MBA from Cornell University post service, a B.S. in Business Studies from Southern New Hampshire University, and attended Tuck: Next Step Transition to Business, a graduate certificate program at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth. He currently resides at his slice of heaven in the woods near Washington, DC, with his girlfriend and their blended family of four teenage children. In his free time, he supports veterans in transition and hikes with his spoiled Labradoodle Liberty Belle.
