If you haven’t heard, the Global SOF Foundation celebrates 7 years this month! Besides 2020 (#COVID), we always hold our Anniversary Celebration on the Monday of Tampa’s SOFIC week. SOFIC is happening virtually this year, but we decided that we still wanted to gather our Special Ops community to celebrate this milestone.
It’s also very convenient that we have 7 full time staff members, so we decided the 7 of us would give 7 reasons to attend our 7th anniversary celebration. And because we’re so excited…we made a video about it. Stay till the end for the bloopers!

Reason #1: Popular Location
As shared by our VP of Marketing and Events, Chelsea Hamashin, the event is happening at Armature Works, right along Tampa’s thriving Riverwalk. It’s a very popular area in Tampa, full of tasty food options, walking paths, and even some Tampa history.

Reason #2: Partner Tech Expo
You heard from Steve Jones, our VP of Partner and Member Relations, that we’ll also have tabletop displays from our Corporate Partners throughout the venue!
No, it won’t be multistory booths with airplanes hanging from the ceiling, but it should scratch your itch to see some of the latest technology from movers and shakers in the defense industry.

Reason #3: In-Person Networking
Meaghan Keeler-Pettigrew, our COO, shared that this event is all about the opportunity to NETWORK. We’re all Zoom’ed out and we’re ready to convene the community face to face. We will have COVID precautions in place, like sanitizing stations, physical distancing, and of course…no handshakes!

Reason #4: Putt with SOF Icons
Rick Lamb, our Director of Government Relations, wants you to attend to learn some SOF history! We’re setting up “Putting with SOF Icons,” a 9 hole putt-putt golf course throughout the venue that pays homage to nine different heroes from the community.
From Sergeant Major Tyrone Adderly to Lieutenant General William Yarborough, join us to learn how they impacted our community.

Hear it from Ranae Grehl, our Director of Events–Reason #5 is the fun! We’ll have unique food and beverage stations scattered throughout the venue.
From bourbon tasting to local beers, live music and a 9 hole putt-putt golf experience… there is something for everyone!
